About the event

Learn about Joanna's experience of participating in an evolving bilingual Montessori program over the past 12 years. She will share her insights about how to build programs over the course of 9 years that create the conditions where children can communicate and understand through speaking, reading, and writing in another language.

About our Ambassador

Joanna has worked over the past two decades to help children and families benefit from the Montessori approach to education. She came to Montessori through her interest in human development and Anthropology and has served in different roles over the course of her career: as a Children’s House Guide, an Elementary Guide, and most recently, serving as the Head of School at Madrid Montessori in Madrid, Spain.  Originally from the U.S., she has lived in Costa Rica, Italy, and Spain where she has experienced the challenges, benefits,  and realities of immersion in another culture and language.  Her educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs, U.S.A., the Montessori 3-6 Diploma from the Maria Montessori School of the Golden Gate in San Francisco, U.S.A., and the AMI Elementary 6-12 Diploma from the Fondazione Centro Internazionale Studi Montessoriani in Bergamo, Italy.
