Language instruction can be challenging in an L2 environment. After the foundation laid by Practical Life, Sensorial, and Oral Language lessons, children may be ready for writing and reading. However, without the necessary vocabulary to support this next step when they are learning to read and write in a second language, children may struggle to succeed—and worse, they might lose interest altogether. This course will provide Montessori Guides with tools to create a tailored vocabulary list—called a Key Vocabulary List—designed to meet the specific needs of their class. We will explore how to present this vocabulary within Montessori lessons and integrate it into daily routines. Finally, we will offer practical insights on how to adapt your language materials to include this vocabulary effectively. The module has three main sessions listed below: 1. What’s a Key Vocabulary List and how to create one that fits your classroom needs 2. Activities and ideas to get children familiarized with the Key Vocabulary List 3. How to create sets of materials containing the Key Vocabulary List
