One of the cornerstones of the Montessori Method for teaching language is the phenomenon known as the Explosion into Writing. However, many Montessori Guides working with L2 learners struggle to see this occur in their environments. In this module, we will take a deep dive into the Explosion into Writing and examine whether it can happen when children are learning to write in a second language. We will explore strategies to support early childhood learners who are ready to write but are not yet thinking in the L2. Finally, we will review the Pink, Blue, and Green Series—discussing why it provides strong support for L2 learners, how to use it effectively, and how to adapt it to meet your students’ needs. This module is divided into three sessions: “Explosion into writing”: Does it happen in an L2 environment?
